Reiki

Welcome to Reiki by Gaina.

Enter into my treatment room for the complete relaxation experience. I am a qualified Reiki Master in Usui Reiki.  I offer a complete relaxing and safe environment.

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is an ancient healing technique that alleviates stress and promotes relaxation that works on every level.  Reiki is a safe, gentle and non-intrusive “hands on” healing technique. The Reiki energy goes to wherever it is most needed, healing the source of the issue first after which the symptoms may gradually disappear. Reiki activates a natural healing process, cleansing the energy system, releasing long held emotions and restoring balance of mind, body and soul.

Benefits

The benefits of a Reiki treatment are:

  • Relaxation
  • Pain management
  • Reduced anxiety
  • Reduced depression
  • Improved sleep
  • Improved digestion
  • Enhanced well-being
  • Stronger self-esteem
  • Support for substance abuse recovery
  • Greater self awareness
  • Greater ease and satisfaction in relationship
  • Heightened intuition

One of the greatest Reiki healing health benefits is stress reduction and relaxation, which triggers the body’s natural healing abilities (immune system), aids in better sleep and improves and maintains health.

Reiki also balances the mind and emotions. Regular Reiki treatments can bring about a calmer and more peaceful state of being, in which a person is better able to cope with everyday stress. Reiki is for everyone: it heals adults, babies, toddlers, children, elderly and pets.

How does it work?

Energy healing is a gentle, non-invasive form of healing where the practitioner channels energy through their hands to clear, energise and balance the chakras, meridians and energy fields. Reiki and other energy healing methods help shift energy blockages, balance the chakras (energy centres) and raises frequency that has been lowered with illness.

Reiki healing therapy works through the transference of positive energy into the chakras, which serve as a pathway for life force energy to flow through the body. These chakras become blocked by negative thoughts and feelings, and blockages can decrease organ functioning and health, as life force energy is unable to reach them. The transference of positive energy into chakras breaks up the blockage by increasing vibrations in the body’s energy field. The subsequent pathways are both healed and straightened, and life force energy can penetrate the body’s organs and tissues to increase their level of functioning.

How long does the session take?

Sessions generally take approximately 1 hour in duration and takes place fully clothed on a massage table. This time involves ‘talk time’ both before and after hands on healing. The actual ‘hands on’ component lasts for 50 minutes.

Reiki After Care

After a Reiki treatment it is always advisable to drink plenty of water; as the body starts to cleanse it will eliminate toxins and this will assist the process.  Sometimes, you might feel rejuvenated after a treatment, but if you have gone into a deep relaxation you might feel very sleepy so try and ensure that you don’t have a heavy workload afterwards to give your body a chance to carry on healing.

How frequent should I get Reiki?

Reiki generally lasts for 1-2 weeks depending on the client. It is recommended that fortnightly or monthly sessions are held to ensure optimum wellbeing.

What will I feel during a Reiki session?

I will give a short explanation of what the treatment involves (if none is offered, don’t be afraid to enquire). You may be asked some details, including a brief medical history. You will be asked to lie down (or sit if this is easier for you) but will not be asked to remove any clothing except for things which could restrict your breathing or comfort, such as shoes or spectacles. Reiki will go through clothing, blankets, or even a plaster cast if necessary!

Treatment is given by the practitioner placing their hands gently on your body in a pre-determined sequence of hand positions, spending several minutes holding each position. These hand positions are non-intrusive and cover both the front and back of the body and are sometimes varied to give Reiki to areas where it is specifically needed. If you find any of the hand positions uncomfortable please let me know. Everyone experiences different things.  Common ‘sensations’ are:

  • Heat
  • Tingling
  • ‘Electrical’ currents
  • Body twitches
  • Stomach rumbling
  • Deep relaxation
  • Visual experiences – such as images and colours
  • Short pains (these are a good sign, indicating that healing is taking place)

Remember that while many of these sensations are pleasurable, the important thing is what you take away from a healing session, i.e. that there is a more lasting benefit than simply an immediate sensation.

How many healing sessions will I need?

The amount of healing sessions needed will depend on several factors. Some people simply want to experiment with Reiki, relax or get an energetic boost. They don’t have anything in particular they wish to work on. In such cases, one session works fine.  If you have a particular emotional or physical issue you want to work on, then good results will often be achieved with 1-4 healing sessions. The number of sessions will depend on the severity (or complexity) of the issue.

Treatments

Reiki treatments follow a clear structure and purpose, promoting healing in a safe, nurturing environment. Each session allows time to explore issues you bring, followed by the Reiki treatment, and then time to allow the Reiki energy to settle.

Reiki treatments are suitable for people of all ages.

NB: Please be aware that Reiki is not an alternative to conventional medicine and therefore, you should always consult your doctor or other healthcare professional for any physical or psychological condition that you may have. I do not diagnose or treat specific illnesses or diseases or interfere with prescribed medication.

Reiki is a complementary therapy and works well alongside conventional medicine.
